the benefits and beauty of herbal infusions August 22 2018, 0 Comments

At Wildcraft, our formulations are geared towards maximizing the benefits of high quality, natural ingredients without creating unnecessarily complicated formulations. There are many ways to make effective skin care with everyday ingredients, one of which is combining and amplifying benefits by making herbal infusions. Herbs can be infused in a number of ways, but, in this case, we use nourishing natural oils combined with herbs to enhance the effects of several of our products.

One of our most loved herbal infusions is organic calendula in organic sunflower oil. We add calendula in to an airtight container of sunflower oil and steep it for a minimum of six weeks. It’s then used as a key ingredient in our Makeup Remover, Body Cream, Geranium Orange Blossom Face Cream and All Purpose Salve.

Calendula is a flower known for its powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, calming and soothing properties. It can be healing in cases of eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and even address bug bites and acne. Organic, unrefined sunflower oil is non-comedogenic, full of fatty acids and vitamin E, making it a beautiful, protective and nourishing layer for the skin. The two create a well-rounded and powerful combination to fully support skin health.

Other infusions that can be found in our products include marshmallow root and sunflower oil, carrot extract and sunflower oil, calendula and grapeseed oil, and calendula, chamomile and rose in witch hazel.

Infusions aren’t just intended to be used in professional skin care. They can be used to enhance the nutrients and benefits of many self care products. With a bit of research, you can choose a favorite herb, depending on what skin concerns you have, and infuse it in an oil to apply after a bath or as a simple face serum. The possibilities are endless. Creating your own simple oil infusion can serve many purposes and go a long way.
