Founder Letter: A Look Ahead
Well that was a fast five years! Wildcraft has come a long way since 2014. What began with a Facebook page and some pop ups around Toronto has become a thriving online retail store with a growing customer base, and products carried in shops across the country. “I look at the first three and a half years as me basically doing a crash course on business,” Laura says. “But the past year and a half feels different—it feels like the company has really found its legs. We’ve got an incredible team and an awesome opportunity to push the mission forward.”
So what exactly is that mission? We want to bring wellness to your everyday routine. And we don’t just mean skincare (although obviously it’s a big part). We mean overall health and wellbeing. What stresses you out? What self care rituals do you practice? How do you manage work / life balance? From nutrition to exercise to beauty (inside and out), we’ll be sharing tips and ideas with you, our Wildcraft community. We want to engage in a clear and open dialogue that addresses all of your thoughts, questions or concerns. “If I’d known even half of what I know now about the beauty industry, I would never have had the guts to start the company,” Laura admits. “I love our products and the quality of care that they give your skin, but there is so much negative messaging out there in terms of beauty standards for women…it’s something that I want to talk more about moving forward. From anti-aging to models with perfect skin… that’s just not the reality with the people I see around me. I don’t like it and it’s something I’d like to see change.” What, if any are some changes you’d like to see in the world of beauty and wellness? Do you have an experience you’d like to share? Or tips of your own that you love? We want to hear all about it!
And we can’t wait to break down some barriers. “It’s really inspiring to see more people involved with natural skincare and wellness in general,” Laura adds. “But I want to create fewer barriers between people who live in urban environments and people who live more remotely.” Living in a small town should not exclude you from natural beauty products. Living on a budget should not exclude you from natural beauty products. Natural beauty, like wellness, should not be exclusive. It should be accessible to absolutely everyone and that’s why we will continue to grow our online presence with luxurious, high quality products at affordable prices, formulated right here in our studio. “Every town doesn’t necessarily have the kind of shop that will sell our products,” Laura explains. “So I’d really like to see more people aware of our brand and what we have to offer.”
In the meantime, we are continuing to experiment and formulate and test new products to add to our growing line. Of course none of this would be possible without you, dear customer. Whether you’re new to Wildcraft or have been supporting us from the beginning, we are so grateful. Thank you for being a part of the journey and please continue to share your feedback with us! What would you like to talk about? What new products are on your wishlist? We are always open to suggestions and look forward to seeing what the next five years bring!
