When it comes to skincare, part of feeling empowered is enjoying the routine and finding ways to make it fun. In addition to having everyday staples, special skincare treatments can be made in your own kitchen using everyday ingredients. Foods have a variety of healing, balancing and invigorating properties when used on the face, and can be just as indulgent and luxurious as a product that can be bought in a store. Try out these recipes for your skin type. Keep in mind, a mask doesn’t have to be applied to the whole face. For example, if you’re dry in some areas and oily in others, mixing and matching works great. Also, make sure to use organic ingredients where possible to get as many nutrients as possible!

Doing a face mask is a great weekly practice and provides a much-needed pick-me-up, especially during times of more extreme weather. It’s also a perfect excuse to take some time for yourself. Apply a mask, take a bath, read a book, or listen to a podcast and unwind. Feel free to get creative and adjust the recipes to be the best for your individual skin type. There are many more food ingredients that can be beneficial, such as bananas, blueberries, turmeric, cucumber and pumpkin. The possibilities are infinite and as easy as playing around in your kitchen.
