In Honour Of Mom

In Honour Of Mom

We asked and you delivered! It has been so incredibly heartwarming and inspiring to read such wonderful stories about moms and mother figures everywhere who are going above and beyond all day, every day. Thanks to each and every one of you for sharing your submissions with us. It was no easy task narrowing it down, so we thought we’d share the entries here to celebrate and honour all of the amazing moms out there! These five selections will each be receiving a Wildcraft care package as our way of saying thank you. We’re all in this together, but we couldn’t do it without our moms.

Name: Kali Cushman
Nominated by: Sidney Cushman

"My sister is a real life super mom. Between feeding her newest baby, making sure the mighty two-year-old stays out of trouble and breaking up squabbles between the older two, she doesn't get much time for herself. When she's not being super mom to her own family, she's being super mom to families that need it most in the neonatal unit of the hospital as a nurse, caring for sick, premature babies. I can't fathom the strength it takes to live a day in her life. She is the best mom. She deserves this and so much more."

Name: Sally Felgnar
Nominated by: Emily Felgnar

"My mother is my hero. She battled and beat breast cancer when I was just a teenager, and continued working through it with a smile on her face. She has the kindest heart, always looking out for others. She is the rock of our family, making sure that everyone is cared for during these uncertain times - she checks in on not only her immediate family, but her parents and in-laws, friends and co-workers. Dropping off eggs, baking and groceries. Planting a garden to feed our family. Her endless positive outlook, genuine love for life and empathy for others is just a small view into the amazing woman that she is."

Name: Marion Alazet-Lebourg
Nominated by: Dimitry Pereira

“My wife is combining a full time director job and a full time loving mommy life educating our 4-year-old child, Giulia. I admire her to the moon and back.”

Name: Farrah Lutchmansingh
Nominated by: Mallory Bernicky

"Farrah has been isolating and working from home and is a single parent for her special needs toddler, Madelyn. She puts 110% into everything she does and wants the best future possible for her daughter. She advocates for special needs, human and animal welfare while taking on many cases as the Travel Abroad Coordinator for Humber College. During this time she has many fires to put out and piles of paperwork as travels have been cancelled. She is still is a great mother and friend and keeps an upbeat attitude that things will get better."

Name: Sasha Luccioni
Nominated by: Zenka Caro

"Sasha is currently a researcher and director of scientific projects in AI for humanity at Mila - Quebec Institute for Artificial Intelligence. When the COVID-19 pandemic started in Canada in March 2020, Sasha immediately became involved in several projects that aim to use artificial intelligence to tackle this crisis. She co-authored a survey article with the United Nations, also creating and curating a portal for gathering information and data around these applications. She was called upon by national and international entities to contribute to working groups and initiatives in this field, and participated in events organized by the WHO and Canadian governmental agencies. She is doing this while juggling her two daughters, who are 3 and 5 years old, so she is also homeschooling them while doing all this impressive work, which means she does 150% of the work in less than 50% of the time. I'm really impressed by her!"
